– 6 bratwurst sausages
– 3 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
– 1 teaspoon brown sugar
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
– 4 cloves garlic, minced
– 12 ounces beer (preferably a German-style lager or a rich ale)
– 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
– Optional: 1 teaspoon caraway seeds for added flavor
– For serving: Sturdy brat buns or hoagie rolls
