Brown Sugar and Bacon Baked Beans is a classic American sweet and savory dish. Here’s a basic recipe to get you started:

Ingredients:

  • 4 cans (15 ounces each) of navy beans or any other beans of your choice, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 pound bacon, diced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions:

  2. In a large skillet, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until it’s crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and set it aside on paper towels to drain excess grease.
  3. In the same skillet, using the bacon fat, sauté the chopped onion until it’s soft and translucent.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked bacon, sautéed onion, drained beans, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  5. Transfer the bean mixture to a baking dish or a cast-iron skillet.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the beans are bubbly and the sauce has thickened.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
