The next best thing is watching food travel shows on YouTube and grabbing inspiration from their travels to try new dishes right in your very own kitchen. One of those dishes comes all the way from Europe. We are happy to share our twist on Golden Fried Catfish.

Golden Fried Catfish

Although this alternative is absolutely amazing, it is best to be enjoyed in small batches. Eating an excess amount of fried foods can lead to health concerns so just be careful.

  • 1 lb. Catfish fillets
  • 1 C. Yellow cornmeal
  • ¼ C. Flour
  • ¼ tsp. Cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp. Paprika
  • 2 tsp. Seasoned salt
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 2 Large eggs
  • Oil for frying
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

  • In a Ziploc bag, combine the cornmeal, flour, cayenne pepper, paprika, seasoned salt, and black pepper to taste. Shake to combine well.
  • Whisk together the eggs in a large bowl.
  • Dip the catfish fillets into the egg mixture and then place them in the Ziploc bag. Shake to coat the fillets well.
  • Heat several inches of oil in a deep-sided skillet over medium-high heat on the stove until the oil reaches 350 degrees.

  • Drain on a paper towel-lined plate and garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving.
  • Enjoy!
