  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: chopped parsley, grated Parmesan cheese


  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and beef broth. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the uncooked elbow macaroni to the skillet and stir to combine with the meat mixture.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the macaroni is tender.
  7. Remove the foil, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the casserole, and return it to the oven for another 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Once done, let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Optionally, garnish with chopped parsley or grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
